Cloud-Native Feed Generation for Faster, Smarter Commerce

Comwrap Reply’s Adobe Commerce Feed Generator empowers merchants to publish product feeds for Google Shopping, Facebook, and more—without code changes or performance impact—using a scalable, self-service cloud app built on Adobe App Builder.

The Challenge

Retailers needed a fast, flexible way to create and update Adobe Commerce product feeds for multiple channels without custom code, developer cycles, or risking storefront performance during large-scale data exports.

The Scenario

Modern merchants depend on accurate, up-to-date product feeds to drive sales on marketplaces, social commerce, and search platforms. Adobe Commerce’s native tools required development for each new feed and consumed storefront resources—slowing performance and delaying campaigns. Comwrap Reply set out to build a feed generation solution that would decouple heavy processing from the core platform, enable rapid multi-channel rollout, and give business teams direct control over feed creation and updates.

The Solution

Decoupled, Self-Service Feed Generation with Adobe App Builder

Comwrap Reply designed the Feed Generator as a serverless cloud service running on Adobe App Builder, completely independent from Adobe Commerce’s core code. The service connects via secure APIs, ensuring feeds can be generated on demand or by schedule without impacting the live shopping experience.

Inside Adobe Commerce’s Admin, an embedded UI built with the Admin UI SDK allows merchandisers to:

When triggered, the Feed Generator queries Adobe Commerce via GraphQL, applies templates, and streams feed output in the chosen format. Heavy processing runs in Adobe’s cloud—powered by Adobe I/O Runtime—allowing it to scale for catalogs with tens of thousands of SKUs. Caching minimizes API load, while Adobe I/O Events and schedulers automate updates to keep external channels perfectly in sync with the latest product data.

The architecture is robust, fault-tolerant, and fully upgrade-safe. No downtime or maintenance windows are needed to introduce new feeds or update configurations, making it future-proof for emerging sales channels.

How we did it

Serverless Architecture, Built for Omnichannel Speed

We implemented the Feed Generator as a suite of Node.js microservices on Adobe App Builder, leveraging:

Business teams now configure feeds visually, using mustache-style placeholders to map data directly from the GraphQL schema. The service stores all configurations in Adobe’s cloud key-value storage, generates files on demand, and exposes them via shareable URLs for integration with Google Merchant Center, Facebook Catalog, and other endpoints.

The result: zero custom code in Commerce, high scalability, and a composable architecture ready to extend to new formats, APIs, and marketing channels.

The Results

The Feed Generator cut feed setup time from weeks to hours, empowering business users to launch Google Shopping and Facebook feeds in parallel without developer intervention. Automated nightly updates ensure external channels always reflect accurate pricing, stock, and product details—reducing feed errors and improving ad relevance.

Offloading generation to Adobe’s cloud eliminated performance risk, even for large catalogs, while the UI-driven approach improved agility in campaign rollouts. By early 2025, the solution was published on the Adobe Exchange Marketplace, enabling Adobe Commerce merchants worldwide to benefit from its speed, flexibility, and upgrade-safe design.
