Global Commerce Replatforming for Storz & Bickel
Storz & Bickel unified its B2C, B2B, and medical e-commerce under a single Adobe Commerce Cloud platform—boosting conversion, compliance, and global scalability.
The Challenge
Multiple stores, manual workflows, and global compliance risks blocked growth. Storz & Bickel needed one platform to support everything—from Israel to Indiana.
The Scenario
The Solution
One Unified Platform. Three Channels. Infinite Scalability.
To power Storz & Bickel’s global commerce ambition, we delivered a modular, multi-tenant solution on Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro—capable of handling consumer sales, medical products, and wholesale distribution within one centralized platform. Each brand—storz-bickel.com, vapormed.com, and b2b.storz-bickel.com—retains its unique identity and requirements, but shares a common architecture, catalog, and core workflows.
This wasn't just a redesign—it was a ground-up replatforming. The new system supports:
- 6 languages, multi-currency, geo-IP redirection, and region-specific compliance logic.
- Custom storefronts with tailored content, pricing, and eligibility rules for B2C, B2B, and regulated medical segments.
- Automated compliance enforcement: legal disclaimers, distributor restrictions, tax validation (via Vertex), and embargo screening.
- Full integration with ERP (Visiofakt) for real-time stock sync and order fulfillment, and QuickBooks for finance automation.
The front-end was rebuilt from scratch with a mobile-first, performance-optimized UI—enhancing discoverability, navigation, and checkout. On the back end, we introduced a B2B dealer portal with self-service ordering, quick reorders, custom quotes, and volume pricing. We integrated UPS/USPS APIs for instant label generation and implemented a complete Returns Management System (RMA) with automated customer flows.
The solution also includes:
- ElasticSuite for powerful search and merchandising
- Adobe Analytics & Target for insight and personalization
- Google reCAPTCHA & fraud prevention for global security
- A scalable CI/CD pipeline and blue-green deployment strategy ensuring zero-downtime releases
It’s not just a storefront. It’s a commerce engine—ready to serve 160+ markets, adapt to future regulations, and scale without compromise. This platform turns commerce into a strategic growth lever—one that’s fully aligned with how Storz & Bickel operates today and innovates tomorrow.
How we did it
From Fragmentation to Orchestration—Delivered in Under 12 Months
We began by mapping every operational dependency—from ERP and finance workflows to logistics, compliance, and customer experience. Then we architected a phased rollout strategy anchored in Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro, ensuring minimal risk and zero business disruption.
We designed the platform with multi-store architecture, allowing centralized product and inventory management, while empowering each storefront to reflect its brand identity, compliance needs, and customer logic. Using Adobe Page Builder, we enabled non-technical users to manage content autonomously—cutting reliance on IT for day-to-day operations.
To handle regional complexity, we built:
- GeoIP detection to route users to the correct localized store
- Custom logic for distributor enforcement (e.g., restricting Israeli traffic from purchasing directly)
- Embargo logic with automated compliance checks
- Vertex integration for real-time global tax compliance
On the technical integration side, we connected:
- Visiofakt ERP for real-time stock, SKU sync, and fulfillment triggers
- QuickBooks for automatic invoicing, payment posting, and financial reporting
- UPS and USPS APIs for shipping label generation and tracking automation
- Global payment gateways, fraud protection services, and security layers (e.g., Google reCAPTCHA)
We also delivered a mobile-first responsive frontend, embedded with rich product media, product recommendations, and advanced search powered by ElasticSuite.
To ensure continuous uptime, the platform was rolled out using a blue-green deployment strategy, backed by full-page caching, CDN distribution, and automated QA pipelines. We load-tested peak scenarios, stress-tested the cart, and validated failover protocols before going live.
Following go-live, Comwrap Reply entered into a structured support and optimization phase, continuously releasing enhancements including personalization pilots with Adobe Target, extended B2B functionality, and regional feature rollouts.
The result: a modular, enterprise-grade commerce foundation, built to serve globally and operate locally—with speed, security, and full compliance by design.
The Results
What was once a fragmented infrastructure is now a unified global commerce engine. Customers benefit from faster pages, localized pricing, and self-service tools. Distributors gain a modern B2B interface. Internally, automation replaces manual effort—orders flow directly into fulfillment and finance, saving time and cost.
The site scales automatically during high-traffic events, and post-launch growth hit double digits YoY. Compliance is now embedded, not enforced manually. What used to be a burden is now a competitive advantage.
